Demi on ABC Nightline: Demi Lovato: 10 Things You Didn’t Know

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Demi Lovato is a force to be reckoned with.

Just 20 years old, the singer-songwriter, who mixes pop beats with a hard edge, dropped her fourth album, “Demi,” this week, on which she co-wrote almost all the songs. “Heart Attack,” the new single off her latest album, is already on its way to being this summer’s anthem.

Having been in the entertainment business since childhood, Lovato has been through the wringer, battling through several personal struggles, but now says she is stronger than ever.

In a candid interview with “Nightline,” the singer shared both quirky and serious reflections about herself and her personal life, some of which might surprise you.

Demi Lovato Got Comfy With Her ‘Girl’ Britney Spears

Saturday, May 18th, 2013

Not many people can say that they have become good friends with one of their idols, but if you’re Demi Lovato, you can.

On last season of the “X Factor,” Lovato found herself — to the envy of fans around the world — seated on the judges panel next to one of the biggest names in pop music: Britney Spears.

“That didn’t suck at all, just saying,” Lovato said during “Live From MTV.”

The two hit it off, with Simon Cowell dubbing them the “gruesome twosome.” But there were times that Lovato, who admitted the “X Factor” helped her get over personal fears, couldn’t even believe that she could now call Spears a friend.

“I had moments where I was so comfortable with her because she is so down to earth,” Lovato said. “I had moments where I’m like, ‘That’s my girl,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh shoot, that’s Britney Spears!’ ”

Now that Spears has decided to end her judgeship and pursue a residency in Sin City, that doesn’t mean their friendship ends there. The “Heart Attack” singer revealed that she will just “have to go see her in Vegas” in the fall.

Until then, Lovato is not only focused on promoting her recently released fourth album, Demi, but also on finding replacement “X Factor” judges for Spears and L.A. Reid, and time is about to run out.

“I am not going to say in this moment today,” Lovato said when asked about possible replacement judges. “It’s just me and Simon and I’m appreciative of that so whatever happens, happens. I think we are going to have to figure out who it is soon because there are auditions next week, but yeah you want to get it right and it will be really great. Me and Simon have talked, and I’m excited for what he is thinking.”

Demi Lovato across the world

Friday, April 5th, 2013

Demi Lovato is a Disney Channel starlet who made a name for herself in the Disney original movie, Camp Rock. Since then, Demi has bagged herself her own TV series on the Disney channel called Sonny With a Chance. The hit comedy TV sitcom has been an international success and has scored high viewing ratings in many countries across the globe, from America and the UK to France and Denmark. Almost every country these days has access to the Disney Channel. In 1997, the Disney Channel was launched in Europe which meant countries like France were able to watch Disney shows. The Disney Channel was exclusive to the CanalSat platform in France but later on it became available on three other channels.

In France, the Disney Channel screens top Disney shows inlcuding Demi Lovato’s Sonny With A Chance series. All of Disney’s shows are American, but luckily for those living in France, some of the programmes are dubbed into French. Other channels Disney fans in France can watch include Toon Disney, Disney Junior and Disney Channel +1. In 2007, the Disney Cinematic channel was launched. It aired a whole range of Disney films including Camp Rock which Demi Lovato stars in.

As a fan of Disney, you might own Demi Lovato merchandise. But did you know that you can also get Disney playing cards? If you are also a poker fan, then what better way to share your love of Disney than playing with some fun Disney cards? Poker makes such a great way to relax after a long day at work. But it is not just adults which enjoy a game of partypoker, some youngsters are also getting into the game.

Alexa Fisher learnt to play poker at the age of just three and can now take on experienced card sharks more than seven times her age. it’s thought she is the youngest poker player in the world. She has been nicknamed the ‘child prodigy’ and she can play over 50 varieties of the game.

She allegedly snubbed going to Disneyland and instead begged her parents to take her to Las Vegas to get autographs at the World Series of Poker tournaments.
She’s much prefer to get an autograph from professional poker pro Greg Raymer than any of the Sonny With A Chance crew or Demi Lovato it would seem. Aged eight years old now, she is still a long way off until she’s old enough to qualify for the WSOP.

Demi Lovato Returning to The X Factor for Season 3

Thursday, March 28th, 2013

Demi Lovato is coming back for more! The 20-year-old “Heart Attack” singer will return for The X Factor’s third season, FOX announced on Thursday, March 28.

“I am so excited to return as a judge and mentor on The X Factor,” Lovato tells Us Weekly in a statement. “Last season was an unbelievable experience and I really enjoyed developing personal relationships with the contestants and the panel. I look forward to taking my previous experience and applying it to make this season even better!”

Lovato joined the series in its second season with Britney Spears, replacing former judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Spears, 31, announced her exit in January 2013, while veteran judge L.A. Reid bowed out in December 2012. Creator Simon Cowell will also return for the show’s third season.

“I couldn’t be happier that Demi wants to come back this year,” Cowell, 54, says. “She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really, really annoying — I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists. I’m especially pleased she’s back, even during her world tour!”

Country singer Tate Stevens was crowned winner of The X Factor’s second session; the “Power of a Love Song” singer was mentored by Reid and awarded a recording contract, in addition to other prizes. Lovato mentored the young adults, while Cowell oversaw the groups and Spears mentored the teens.

Demi Lovato Reveals Secret Half-Sister

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

Demi Lovato revealed a family secret on the radio.

“I have an older sister I’ve never known my whole life, who’s in her 30s,” Lovato, 20, told Long Island, N.Y., radio station, WBLI, when asked if there’s anything personal she’d like to share with her fans. “She’s my half-sister, but I talked to her for the very first time in my life around when I turned 20.”

Calling from a “fancy” VIP airport lounge before a flight, Lovato – who didn’t go into detail about which parent this sister came from – went on to say, “I asked her, I said, ‘Why haven’t you ever contacted me?’ She said, ‘Well, I never wanted you to think I wanted anything from you. So I’ve just been kind of waiting to see if you wanted a relationship.’ I thought that was so incredible. So, I actually have three sisters.”

One personal topic The X Factor judge would not address is romance.

When asked about her off-and-on beau, Wilmer Valderrama, the “Heart Attack” singer went mum when asked if she and the actor are back together.

“I just like to keep my private life like my life and stuff like that,” she said. “And my friends and family and everything like that, I like to keep very sacred … Unfortunately, no, I would not like to comment.”

Demi Lovato Is Living at a Sober House

Friday, January 11th, 2013

Demi Lovato is so determined to maintain her health that she’s been living in a sober house in Los Angeles – even while she was a judge on The X Factor, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

“She’s very smart,” says the source of Lovato, who underwent treatment for bulimia, anorexia and cutting two years ago. “She takes whatever steps she needs to make sure she stays healthy.”

The 20-year-old singer, who owns a Mediterranean style home outside of L.A., has been renting a room in the sober facility for more than a year, the source confirmed.

Lovato, who also learned she has bipolar disorder while she was in treatment from Nov. 2010 to Jan. 2011, has been very open about her struggles.

“I take it day by day. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t days where I just want to stay in bed all day because I’m ashamed of my body,” she told PEOPLE in an interview after leaving treatment that year. “It’s a struggle I’ll probably have to deal with for the rest of my life. But I have so much life to live; I don’t want to waste it.”

It’s unclear how long Lovato plans to live at the sober house, but the former Disney Channel star – who tattooed “Stay Strong” on her wrists – is committed to her health, says the source.

TMZ was first to report that Lovato is living in a sober facility.

She also partnered with yours truly for our fifth annual Teens for Jeans campaign.
